Your work stays on your computer.

This page explains what Brainwrite collects, why, and what it never receives. It covers the Brainwrite desktop app, the account and payment services behind it, and this website.

Last updated: 25 October 2026

The desktop app is local-first

Your bots, chats, memory, and files live on your own Brainwrite Cloud computer, which only your own devices reach, or on your computer when you keep its bots there. Brainwrite does not receive them.

Your Brainwrite account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, through accounts.brainwrite.app. To run your account we store your email address, an account ID, and your sign-in session. Sign-in codes are sent to you by email.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach Brainwrite. We store your email address and your Stripe customer and subscription IDs.

Usage analytics

The desktop app sends usage analytics so we can see which features people use. It is on by default; turn it off in Settings → Usage analytics, and from then on nothing is kept or sent. Events go to Brainwrite’s account service (accounts.brainwrite.app), which passes them to LogZuno, the analytics service we use. Each event carries your Brainwrite account’s email, your IP address, your plan and the app version.

Events record what you use, as counts and words from a fixed list: the app opening, setup steps, bots and group chats created, what is set up (providers, engines, connected apps by name), cloud computers starting and stopping, and each day’s message, turn and token totals by AI engine and model. They never include your conversations, prompts, files, the names of your bots, teams or group chats, secrets, API keys, passwords or web addresses. The account service keeps events only until LogZuno has them (at most seven days), and its daily totals for 90 days. The full list is in the documentation.

AI providers

Brainwrite uses your own AI provider accounts, API keys, and command-line tools. Your prompts go directly from your computer or your Cloud computer to those providers, under their terms and privacy policies — not through Brainwrite.

Connected apps

Connected apps such as Gmail or Slack work through Composio, via composio.brainwrite.app. For this, Brainwrite stores an installation token for your copy of the app — only as a hash, never the token itself. The connections to your apps are made with Composio, under Composio’s terms.

Phone pairing

Pairing the phone companion with your computer may use a secure tunnel hostname that Brainwrite manages and ties to your account.

Brainwrite Cloud health checks

If you use Brainwrite Cloud, your Cloud computer keeps a small health record so we can see when something is going wrong, for example when your bots’ tasks keep failing, without you having to tell us. Every five minutes Brainwrite’s Cloud service reads that record from your Cloud computer over an encrypted, signed connection. The record contains only fixed error codes, counts and times; the Brainwrite version your Cloud runs; which AI engines are installed on it, whether they are available and whether they are signed in; the names of the connected-app services set up on it (such as “gmail”) and whether each is connected; whether your routines last succeeded; memory, disk and load figures; and random internal IDs for the bot, task or routine involved.

It never contains your messages, prompts, files, bot or task names, email addresses, web addresses, passwords, keys or tokens, or the account you use with an AI provider. Only Brainwrite’s operators can see it; we use it only to keep your Cloud working and do not email you from it. We keep it for up to 30 days, and it is deleted when your Cloud is deleted.

This website

The contact form and the sponsor form collect what you type into them. Both are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, and Google’s privacy policy applies to it. Sponsor checkout is handled by Stripe. The website’s own code sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Emails we send

Transactional emails, such as sign-in codes and Brainwrite Cloud notices, are sent through Cloudflare.
